Premier mountain living in Lake Arrowhead, California
Lake Arrowhead has long been known and one of the premier private lake communities of Southern California. Lake Arrowhead features many large mountain homes that only the wealthy can afford. The population of Lake Arrowhead is about 10,000. Lake Arrowhead features a nice climate with mild summers and mild winters, however, ample snowfall is received and thick winter ice is common on the streets. A ski resort is available at Running Springs only about a 15 minute drive from Lake Arrowhead. Lake Arrowhead is also a viable option for commuters to the San Bernardino/Redlands Area with easy access down the mountain. However, these roads have been known to be closed for extended periods of time after fires/floods. Lake Arrowhead sits at about 5200 feet elevation. Many homes in Lake Arrowhead are lived in year-round while others are retreats for wealthy Southern Californians.
Beautiful Lake Arrowead
The forest in and around Lake Arrowhead is dominantly pine tree. The most common pine in the area is Coulter Pine. Jeffery and Sugar pine are also found abundantly in the area. Drier slopes have scrub oak and manzanita. For local shopping, Lake Arrowhead has a Jensen's Market in Cedar Glen at the intersection of Highway 173 and Hook Creek Road on the southeast side of the lake. The bulk of shopping for Lake Arrowhead is at the Village located in the middle of the Lake on the south side. This shopping center features a Stater Bros market, McDonalds, a few clothing stores and restaurants and a few other miscellaneous stores. For college most residents commute to Crafton Hill Community College located just of the mountain in Yucaipa.
