We hiked out to Big Horn Mine and went in and walked around a little, then the flashlight broke and three other people with us fell down the deep mineshaft and I haven't seen them since (jk). Someone painted this naked woman on one of the walls inside. There are these rusty supports bolted to the top of the mine for stability I guess and the water drips down with the rust and makes the ground look like it's covered with blood. Being in there was not my thing, so I got out, and on the way back we cut down to the trail to Vincent's Cabin and checked that out. It's kind of dumb looking where the forest service has patched it up, but if they didn't, it probably wouldn't be standing.

There was a lot of time put into that cabin in "volunteer" efforts to at least keep it standing. The wood that you mention is dumb looking was hand split. All efforts have been taken to keep it original. You are correct in the statement that it would not be standing if they had not reinforced it. It is impossible to match wood that is over 100 years old.
