First we took a walk around the punchbowl and then we started hiking toward's Devil's Chair up the Burkhart Trail, we didn't make it to Devil's Chair. It was hot as H*LL out there. This day I was hiking with people who don't hike a whole lot. I planned to meet up with Jerry and hike Mt. Baldy (up pine mtn, dawson's peak, mt baldy from guffy campground) but we get out to Guffy Campgrd and I realize I forgot my stupid forest adventure pass in my other truck, so we left and went out to Sawpit Canyon above Silverwood lake and rock-hopped the creek in the dark. See Hike 14 for a description of Sawpit Canyon in the San Bernardino National Forest. |

 |
Sandstone and metamorphic rocks. There are a few obvious faults out here, especially where the sandstone contacts the metamorphic unit. |
