Plenty of climbers, backpackers and campers think of energy-saving LED headlamps as a safer substitute for tent-bound candle lanterns, but Petzl's Tikka XP shines new light on nocturnal potential beyond your tent and campsite. It features three lighting settings including a boost mode that illuminates up to 55 yards or so depending on the light-reflection properties of the surrounding terrain (wet black rocks always seem to steal some from any manufacturer's claim).
