Driving Directions
Drive to Hesperia Lakes in the south east corner of Hesperia on Lake Arrowhead Rd.
Route
Ride South on Lake Arrowhead Rd to Hwy 173 and make a left. Ride up Hwy 173 to the closure at 8 miles from the bottom of the dirt road. Take a right onto Grass Valley Rd climb a bit and make a left onto Matterhorn Dr. Take Matterhorn to the stop sign at North Bay and make a left to Hwy 173. Make a right onto 173 to Yosemite on the left. Take a left on Yosemite and a quick right onto the first road, Yellowstone. Take Yellowstone to Banff and make a right to the end at the gate. Ride a few feet down from Banff onto the dirt and take the road to the right. It goes down a little and meets up with trail 3W12 on the left. Take this trail, this is the good part of the ride, mostly downhill and pretty fast with a few small stream crossings, a little mud, a little ice, a few jumps near the start. Stay on 3W12 as it crosses a few intersections to its end at 3N34. Make a left onto the road 3N34 and stay to the left on the easy 3N34, not the difficult trail 3N34X to the right. Ride 3N34 back to the Pinnacles Staging Area and continue on 3N34 back to Hwy 173. Make a right back to Lake Arrowhead road and make a right back to Hesperia Lakes.
Details
Nice fun ride. Watch out for dirt bikes on 3W12. Pretty cold day but still nice. It was about 25 ° F last night in Hesperia. A few tiny patches of snow in the shade up in Arrowhead.
Notes about this ride report
This was my 2nd ride after having the flu for about a week and a half. Rode 30 miles in Honda Valley on Thursday and felt pretty bad, felt much better today, could've easily ridden another 2 hours.
