Rather than spend over $50 on the tool, I went to hardware store and bought a 1ft length of 1 1/4" pipe; a fitting - female slip w/ threaded male; a pack of 2 thick 1 1/4" rubber washers. Total cost: $2.35. Put crown race on steerer tube, put a washer on next, fit the female end of fitting onto pipe to add length and decrease inner diameter; slip pipe onto steerer, fitting end down and hammer race on straight by pounding on end of pipe with rubber mallet. |
