Adelanto is a film-friendly community having many movies being filmed in Adelanto and the surrounding areas. Adelanto is home to the High Desert Mavericks minor league baseball team located just off Highway 395. Adelanto has a population of about 20,000 with the majority of residents being Hispanic. The Black population of Adelanto is higher than any other high desert community. Most of the quality homes in Adelanto are very new or just being built. Developers are trying to change the face of Adelanto by turning it from a run-down city to a nicer residential community. Amazingly the prices in Adelanto are nearly as high as other communities in the high desert with an average home price of around $250,000. Still, prices in Adelanto remain the lowest in the high desert. Many portions of Adelanto are close to Highway 395; from there, it's just a few miles drive to the I-15 freeway, so it is still a relatively good location for commuters.
